Helping Southlake Marriages Thrive
Meet Jonathan Atwell
I’m Jonathan Atwell — a licensed counselor associate and former pastor of 20 years. I help Christian married couples in Southlake who feel stuck in patterns they can’t seem to fix on their own. In a community shaped by devotion to family, the Carroll ISD Dragons, and the pressure to perform at a high level, many couples quietly struggle behind closed doors.
Many Southlake couples are looking for a private, faith-centered path forward—one that helps them move toward reclaiming their marriages and building stronger connections without feeling exposed or overwhelmed.

Are You Stuck in the Cycle?
Most couples I work with aren’t in crisis — they’re overwhelmed. Between demanding careers, full family schedules, and the pressure to keep everything running smoothly, it’s easy to drift into unhealthy relationship patterns, including:
Feeling stuck in a roommate marriage
Stonewalling in your relationship
Repeated arguments that never fully resolve
Emotional distance and disconnection
Communication that feels tense or unproductive
Feeling more like coworkers or co-parents than spouses
You may have already tried:
Praying together or individually
Reading marriage or relationship books
Attending counseling in the past
Working harder to improve communication on your own
Even with those efforts, it can feel like nothing truly changes.
What you’re experiencing is something I call “The Cycle” — a pattern where both spouses react in ways that protect themselves but unintentionally push each other away. Together, we work to:
Break the cycle of marriage conflict
Identify unhealthy emotional patterns
Rebuild emotional safety and trust
Create healthier communication habits
Strengthen emotional and spiritual connection
Restore intimacy and closeness in your marriage
Through Emotionally Focused Therapy grounded in faith, you can begin experiencing lasting restoration and a healthier, more connected relationship.

If you’re ready to stop cycling through the same pain, I’d love to talk.
